'I understand that the Penylan Councillors secured a stay of execution and yesterday met with Officers from the Council’s Highways Department. As a result, a public exhibition will take place and the Councillors will notify the residents of the time, date and location of the exhibition when this has been arranged. Meanwhile, no action will be taken to fell the trees. I trust that this will be acceptable to the residents of Deri Road but, if I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me'.

Sarah Baylis, Administrative Officer, The Tree Council:
'We are very sorry to hear of this threat to your local trees. Our advice to people in your circumstances is to speak to the Tree or Arboricultural Officer in the local authority, as they deal with all the tree matters in the area. They are also the only people who can issue Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) to protect the trees. The Department for Communities and Local Government has all the guidance and legislation on TPOs on their website www.communities.gov.uk if you search under trees and hedges. I do hope that your campaigning has a successful outcome'.
